The CMMG Banshee MkG is built for shooters who want a compact, AR-platform pistol in .45 ACP without the punishing recoil that caliber typically delivers in a short-barreled package. The platform achieves that through Radial Delayed Blowback, an operating system CMMG developed specifically to address the limitations of traditional straight blowback designs in pistol-caliber ARs. In a straight blowback gun, the bolt begins rearward travel the moment the cartridge fires, requiring a heavy bolt carrier group and stout buffer to manage the impulse. The Radial Delayed Blowback system delays that rearward movement fractionally, which spreads the recoil event over a longer window and allows CMMG to run a lighter bolt carrier group and buffer than a comparable straight blowback design would need — the result is a softer, more manageable impulse at the shooter’s shoulder and cheek.

The MkG designation tells you the lower is built around Glock-pattern .45 ACP magazines, which are widely available and proven in the field. The handguard runs full-length M-LOK slots on both sides and the underside, with additional M-LOK real estate between the top Picatinny rail sections, so you can mount lights, lasers, or vertical grips without sacrificing the top rail for optic use. Speaking of optics — the upper ships optics-ready, so you choose the glass or red dot that fits your intended use rather than paying for a bundled sight you might replace anyway.
