Description

The Reptilia DOT Mount is a dedicated mounting solution for the Trijicon MRO, built for shooters who run an AR-15 with iron sights and need their red dot to sit in a useful relationship to those sights rather than completely blocking them. Lower 1/3 co-witness means the MRO sits high enough that your backup sights are visible in the lower third of the optic’s aperture — present if you need them, out of the way when you don’t. That geometry is a deliberate compromise between absolute-co-witness setups, where the dot and irons share the same plane and the irons are always in view, and mounts that lift the optic so high the irons disappear entirely.

The mount is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum, an alloy chosen for its strength-to-weight ratio, and finished with a Mil-Spec Type III hard anodize that resists wear and corrosion without adding meaningful bulk. The clamp mechanism uses a spring-loaded nitrided steel component, which maintains consistent rail engagement and resists the galling that can occur when bare steel interfaces cycle against aluminum under recoil. At 1.5 ounces, the mount adds almost nothing to the rifle’s reciprocating or static weight. Installation hardware — mounting screws and a hex L-key — ships with the mount, so no separate tooling is required to get it on the rail. The Picatinny interface is standard, meaning it seats on any MIL-STD-1913 rail without shimming or adapters.
