Description

The Arisaka TC-2 Momentary Tailcap is built for shooters who run weapon lights in dynamic environments and want a switch that demands a deliberate press rather than rewarding an accidental one. It replaces the stock tailcap on Arisaka 300, 600, 18350, and 18650 Series light bodies, as well as Surefire Scout lights, giving those platforms a purpose-designed activation interface without modifying the host.

The operating logic is straightforward: pressure on the switch produces light only while contact is maintained. Releasing it cuts the output immediately, which suits techniques that treat light as a tool to be used in short, controlled bursts rather than left on. For shooters who need sustained output, threading the tailcap fully down locks it into constant-on. Backing it out roughly two turns disables both modes entirely, a useful lockout for storage or transport when an accidental activation would be a problem. There is no dedicated lockout button to manage separately — the thread position handles it.

The body is CNC-machined from 6061-T651 aluminum and finished with a Type III hard coat anodize. That combination keeps weight negligible while providing a surface that resists the kind of wear that comes from regular use on a rifle or carbine. Arisaka manufactures the TC-2 in the United States.

The case for a momentary-only tailcap over a clicky design comes down to mode management under pressure. A clicky switch requires tracking whether the previous press left the light on or off; a momentary removes that variable entirely. The light is on when you are pressing, off when you are not — one fewer thing to think about when it matters.
