ALG COMBAT TRIGGER

Description

The ALG Defense ACT occupies a specific and useful niche: it is a direct replacement for a mil-spec trigger group that retains all standard geometry and parts interchangeability while removing the grit and roughness that make factory triggers unpleasant to shoot. The sear surfaces are polished smooth and the components are HardLubed, which is what produces the cleaner break without altering the sear angles themselves. Because the geometry is unchanged, the ACT carries the same fundamental reliability profile as the trigger it replaces — it simply performs that function with less friction in the pull.

The trigger and hammer are cut from 8620 alloy steel castings, carburized, quenched, and tempered to achieve high surface hardness — the same material specification the military applies to service rifle components. The disconnector is 1070 high-carbon steel, properly Austempered into the spring range of hardness. Trigger and hammer pins are 4140 chrome-moly, centerless ground to a diameter 0.001 inches over standard, which reduces play in the assembly while still allowing a normal slip fit into a mil-spec lower receiver. Both pins receive a Nickel-Teflon coating. Pull weight runs around 6 pounds in practice, staying above the 5.5-pound military minimum and well clear of the 9.5-pound upper limit.

Because the ACT shares common parts with standard mil-spec trigger groups and requires no matched sets, field maintenance follows the same procedures an armorer already knows. It fits small-pin mil-spec lower receivers and is compatible with the JP Reduced Power Spring Kit or JP Reliability Enhanced Spring Kit if a lighter pull is wanted later. For a shooter who wants a meaningful improvement over a stock trigger without departing from standard architecture, this is a straightforward upgrade.
