Description

The Timney AR-15 Competition Trigger is built for shooters who want a meaningful functional improvement over a standard mil-spec trigger group — whether for precision work at the range, competitive shooting, or simply a cleaner break on a rifle they shoot often. It installs as a fully self-contained drop-in module, meaning all the components are captive inside an aluminum alloy housing and the whole assembly drops into your existing lower using your rifle’s original hammer and trigger pins. No fitting, no stoning, no gunsmithing required. A proprietary internal design prevents pin walkout, which is a real-world nuisance that plagues some aftermarket assemblies and requires secondary retention hardware to address.

The hammer is wire-EDM machined from S7 tool steel, a material chosen because it balances hardness — important for wear resistance at the engagement surfaces — with enough toughness to absorb repeated impact without chipping. The remaining components are EDM-cut from A2 tool steel and heat treated to Rc 56–60, putting them in a hardness range that holds precise geometry over a long service life. Those precision-ground engagement surfaces are what produce the trigger’s characteristically clean break and short reset: there is no staging, no stacking, no ambiguity in where the shot will go.

The 3-pound single-stage pull weight makes this a trigger you can shoot accurately under time pressure without the fatigue or anticipation flinch that a heavier mil-spec pull can produce. The curved shoe profile suits shooters who prefer a more intuitive finger placement, and the yellow aluminum housing makes the module easy to identify and visually confirm installed correctly. Updated housings include internal nylocks, eliminating the need for external locking screws during installation.
