Description

The American Defense Manufacturing AD-Recon is a quick-detach scope mount designed for shooters who run high-powered glass on flat-top platforms—AR-10s, bolt-action rifles in chassis systems, and lever-action rifles with full-length handguards. The absence of built-in eye relief offset means the mount places the scope tube exactly where the rail geometry dictates, which suits chassis rifles where the stock geometry is already doing that work, and keeps the setup straightforward for longer-range bolt guns where the shooter sets eye relief by adjusting the scope directly.

The 30mm tube diameter matches the ring bore to most contemporary long-range and tactical scopes without adapters or shims. The mount accommodates objective lenses up to 56mm, so there is no need to sacrifice glass size for clearance. Construction is CNC-machined from 6061-T6 aluminum throughout, then finished in a hard coat Type III Mil-Spec anodize—the same specification used on military hardware—which provides genuine abrasion resistance rather than a cosmetic coating.

The defining mechanical feature is American Defense’s patented QD Auto Lock lever system. Unlike conventional rings that require tools and a torque wrench to reinstall consistently, the Auto Lock lever adjusts with a fingertip or a flat-blade screwdriver, and the adjustment screw controls clamping tension across the range of real-world rail tolerances—both in-spec and out-of-spec Picatinny rails. The lever itself can be oriented to lock forward or rearward depending on the rifle’s geometry. Once tension is dialed in for a given rifle, the mount can be removed and reinstalled repeatedly without losing zero, which matters practically when the rifle needs to be cleaned, transported in a case, or moved between uppers.
