Description
The American Defense Manufacturing AD-RECON-SL is a one-piece quick-detach scope mount built primarily for bolt-action rifles and small-caliber semi-auto platforms like the M1A, M14, and 10/22 — applications where the optics rail sits above the action without a handguard extending over the barrel. If your setup calls for getting the scope as close to the bore as possible, this is the variant to reach for: the SL designation indicates the lowest mounting height ADM offers in the RECON line, which matters practically for cheek weld and natural eye alignment, particularly on traditional rifle stocks.
Unlike the standard AD-RECON, the RECON-SL carries no built-in eye relief offset — it positions the scope directly over the rail without shifting it forward. That makes proper scope placement the shooter’s responsibility during mounting, but it also keeps the footprint compact on shorter actions where real estate is limited.
The mount is CNC machined from a single block of 6061-T6 aluminum, then finished in Type 3 hard-coat anodize — a mil-spec process that leaves a substantially harder surface than standard anodizing and resists both corrosion and abrasion over long service. The clamping mechanism uses ADM’s patented QD Auto Lock lever system, which is adjustable without tools for most corrections and accepts a flat-blade screwdriver for finer tuning. Critically, the lever accommodates both in-spec and out-of-spec Picatinny rails by design, so it will seat consistently across different rifle manufacturers rather than requiring a perfectly dimensioned rail. The lever itself can be oriented to lock forward or rearward depending on what clears your action. ADM backs it with a lifetime warranty.
