Description

The American Defense Manufacturing Recon-X is a one-piece cantilever scope mount built for flat-top AR-15s and other Picatinny-railed rifles where mounting a full-size, high-powered optic directly over the receiver would push the eyepiece too far back for comfortable shooting. The 3-inch extended cantilever shifts the scope forward, recovering the eye relief that large magnification optics demand without requiring the shooter to cant the rifle or strain forward.

The mount is machined from a single block of 6061-T6 aluminum — a construction method that eliminates joints and fasteners in the body itself, preserving consistent ring alignment across the scope tube. The Type 3 hard-coat anodized finish resists corrosion and abrasion without adding meaningful weight. The ring bore is sized for 30mm scope tubes, and the mount carries no elevation bias built in, meaning it returns the scope to a true zero relationship with the bore — useful when a scope already has sufficient internal travel or when the shooter prefers to manage elevation through turret adjustments rather than a canted mount.

The centerpiece of the design is ADM’s patented QD Auto Lock lever system. The lever adjusts to accommodate both in-spec and out-of-spec Picatinny rails without tools — a flat-blade screwdriver or a fingernail handles the tension setting — and can be configured to lock toward the front or the rear of the receiver depending on the shooter’s preference. The standard lever is included; ADM also offers a larger tactical lever separately for gloved use. The mount carries a lifetime warranty from American Defense Manufacturing and is made in the United States.
