Description
The Arisaka Side Scout Mount (SSM-P) solves a specific problem that comes up when you’re trying to run a weapon light alongside a laser aiming module on a rail-equipped rifle. Standard Picatinny adapters that ship with lights like the Surefire Scout series sit the body of the light relatively high on the rail, which puts it in direct conflict with the body of an ATPIAL-C, AN/PEQ-15, or LA-5/PEQ when both are mounted in close proximity. The SSM-P replaces that stock adapter with a lower-profile interface that tucks the light to either side and underneath the laser, letting both devices coexist on the same handguard section without one physically blocking the other. The same geometry also gives clearance around the QD lever on Steiner DBAL variants including the I2, A3, and D2.
Compatibility covers a wide range of current Scout-format lights: the full Surefire M300 and M600 families, the Modlite PLH and OKW, Streamlight ProTac Rail Mount 1, 2, and HL-X, and Arisaka’s own 300 and 600 Series lights. The mount is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and finished in MIL-A-8625 Type III hard coat anodize, which is a military-specification hard anodize process that produces a surface significantly harder than the base aluminum. At 0.6 oz and 1.265 inches in length, it adds essentially nothing to the overall package. Installation requires a 1/8-inch Allen wrench and a T20 Torx driver; removing the factory Picatinny adapter from a Surefire Scout beforehand requires a T9 Torx. Neither tool is included. Manufactured in the USA.
