The B5 Systems SOPMOD stock exists because of a specific requirement: the Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center needed a buttstock that could survive field conditions while carrying the gear a rifle operator actually needs. B5 has manufactured this stock for the U.S. Department of Defense since 2011, and the SOP-1351 is the same unit offered to the civilian market — not a commercial approximation of the military design.

The dual storage compartments are sealed against moisture, which makes them genuinely useful rather than decorative.
