Description

This is a drop-in threaded barrel built for Glock 17 Gen 5 owners who want to run a suppressor or compensator without compromising the fit and finish of a purpose-built component. Ballistic Advantage machines it from hardened 416R stainless steel, a grade chosen for its dimensional stability under heat and its resistance to corrosion — both relevant concerns when a muzzle device is trapping gas and moisture at the crown end of the barrel.

The bore is honed, lapped, and tumbled after machining, a sequence that removes tooling marks and produces a smooth internal surface before the barrel ever sees a round. Bore deviation is held to less than .0001 inch, which supports consistent bullet seating and repeatable lockup from round to round. The chamber is cut to SAAMI specifications, meaning the barrel will feed standard 9mm Luger ammunition without requiring handloaded or specialty cartridges to function reliably. No break-in protocol is required.

The 1:10 button-rifled twist rate is well matched to the range of common 9mm bullet weights — from lighter 115-grain loads through the 124- and 147-grain projectiles that most suppressor-oriented shooters favor. A slower twist like 1:10 puts less rotational stress on jacketed hollow points than a tighter rate would, while still stabilizing heavier subsonic projectiles adequately. The 1/2×28 muzzle threads accept standard 9mm suppressors and compensators, and a thread protector with O-rings ships with the barrel to keep the threads covered and secure when no muzzle device is mounted.

The QPQ Black finish hardens the exterior surface and resists friction, moisture, and fouling without the reflective quality of a PVD coating.
