The BCM A/T Optic Riser 525-5 is built for shooters who need to run a red dot, magnifier, or other single optic at a consistent, predictable height above the rail without adding unnecessary bulk or snag points. It fits into BCM’s A/T system, which means the clamp uses angled torque rather than a conventional horizontal interface — the angled geometry causes the clamp to apply triangulating force against the rail, producing roughly twice the clamping load at the same applied torque compared to a standard horizontal bolt pattern. That matters on a hard-use rifle where recoil cycling and field handling are constant.
The riser itself is machined from aircraft aluminum alloy and hard coat anodized to Mil-A-8625F, while the clamp is steel alloy with a nitride hardening treatment. The combination keeps weight down on the body of the riser while putting a harder, more impact-resistant material where the clamping loads concentrate. Five integral recoil lugs are machined into the base to resist both recoil and counter-recoil impulses, which preserves zero across sustained firing rather than relying on clamp friction alone.
The 0.525-inch rise over the upper receiver’s top surface is a deliberate figure: it brings a typical lower-third co-witness optic to approximately 2.16 inches of height, and an absolute co-witness optic to roughly 1.93 inches. That additional elevation is useful when shooting with night vision or other head-worn PPE, where a lower sight line becomes awkward or unusable. The full length of the Mil-Std 1913 stalk remains accessible for attaching accessories at any point along the riser, so placement of the optic or any secondary accessory can be fine-tuned without being locked into a fixed position.
