Description

The BCM MK2 Recoil Mitigation System Mod 1 – T1 is a complete buffer system replacement designed for AR-15 platform rifles where the shooter wants a more manageable recoil impulse without trading away reliability. It suits anyone running a standard Mil-Spec lower receiver who has grown frustrated with the abrupt, single-stage push of a conventional carbine buffer setup.

The core of the design is a buffer with an internal counterweight that travels a greater distance than a standard buffer allows. That additional travel spreads the bolt carrier’s rearward force over a longer cycle, which softens the felt impulse and reduces the tendency for the bolt to bounce off the rear of the receiver extension—a common cause of short-stroking under hard use. A small internal spring keeps the counterweight seated consistently so carrier velocity stays predictable shot to shot rather than varying with the buffer’s orientation or the shooter’s position. The T1 variant weighs approximately 4.7 oz, positioning it between the lighter T0 and the heavier T2 in BCM’s lineup; it is a reasonable starting point for standard unsuppressed configurations before considering whether suppressed or over-gassed setups call for a heavier option.

The included receiver extension is approximately three-quarters of an inch longer than a standard carbine tube, which is what allows the counterweight its extended travel. That extra length means some Mil-Spec stocks will not collapse completely against the castle nut—worth accounting for before purchase. The extension is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum with a hard coat anodized finish and offers eight positions. The kit also includes a Mil-Spec M16A4 rifle action spring—which carries more coils than an M4 carbine spring—along with a castle nut and a QD end plate with a swivel mount.
