Description

Staking a castle nut is a permanent fix to a temporary problem: it secures the nut but makes future disassembly a chore that risks damaging the receiver’s finish. The Primary Weapons Systems Ratchet Lock Castle Nut and End Plate set solves that problem mechanically instead. The ratcheting interface between the nut and end plate locks the nut in place under recoil without any staking, peening, or adhesive. When you actually need to remove the buffer tube — for maintenance, for a stock swap, or for a rebuild — the assembly comes apart cleanly with standard tools and leaves nothing marred.

Both components are machined from 4140 steel, which gives the set the durability to handle repeated installation and removal cycles without the ratchet geometry wearing loose. The end plate includes an integrated QD socket, so you gain a fixed, receiver-level sling attachment point without adding a separate mount or giving up clearance around the stock. The set fits both mil-spec and commercial buffer tubes, making it a practical choice whether you are working on a standard lower or one of PWS’s own Enhanced Buffer Tube builds. This is the kind of component that matters most on a rifle you actually reconfigure. If your buffer tube stays installed permanently and the castle nut never comes off, staking works fine.
