Description
The Hoppe’s BoreSnake Viper is a pull-through bore cleaner built for shotgun shooters who want a fast, reliable way to maintain their barrel without carrying a full rod-and-brush kit. It handles the 20 gauge bore in a single pass, combining scrubbing and wiping in one continuous motion rather than requiring separate runs with a brush, patch, and rod.
The leading end features a cone-shaped bore guide that centers the cleaner as it enters the muzzle, helping it track straight through the barrel instead of canting against the bore wall. Bronze brushes embedded in the body do the heavy work on carbon and powder fouling, while the integrated cleaning surface behind them picks up the loosened debris. The brass weight on the pull cord is stamped with the gauge designation, which matters when you have more than one BoreSnake in a bag and need to grab the right one quickly.
Hoppe’s designed the Viper line to deliver 50% more brush cleaning surface than the original BoreSnake — a straightforward construction difference, not a vague improvement. The kit includes a Den, which is a clamshell storage case that keeps the snake coiled and protected between uses, and makes it practical to toss in a range bag or hunting pack without the cord tangling around everything else. This is a maintenance tool for shooters who clean in the field or want a faster option at the bench — not a replacement for a thorough rod cleaning when the situation calls for one, but a dependable first-line solution for regular upkeep.
