The XH-556 is built for shooters who run their rifles hard — sustained full-auto strings, high round counts, and environments where gas management and muzzle signature both matter. It is a suppressor designed around the specific pressure demands of 5.56/.223 platforms rather than adapted from a slower-caliber design, and that distinction shapes every major construction choice B&T made here.
The body is 3D-printed titanium, which allows internal geometry that traditional machining cannot produce and keeps weight at 10.5 ounces — light enough to matter on a rifle carried all day. The blast baffle is 718 Inconel, an alloy selected specifically because it retains its structural properties under the sustained heat that erodes titanium in the highest-stress zone of the suppressor. Combining the two materials lets B&T optimize each component for its actual job rather than settling on a single material that is merely adequate at both.
B&T’s Reduced Backpressure System addresses one of the real trade-offs in suppressor design: conventional suppressors increase bolt velocity as gas pressure builds behind the action, which accelerates wear and increases felt recoil impulse. The RBS limits that bolt speed increase to under two percent on M4-pattern carbines, which means the host weapon’s operating cycle stays close to its unsuppressed baseline. The low-flash stainless steel endcap works alongside the RBS rather than against it — some reduced-backpressure designs shift flash forward, but the endcap is engineered to suppress that signature rather than redirect it.
Mounting uses the HUB interface at 1.375″x24 TPI, and the suppressor ships with a RAID taper mount and muzzle device. No barrel length restrictions apply, and the design was validated through SOCOM-standard burn-down testing: 240-round cycles repeated 95 times, totaling more than 22,000 rounds.
