Description
The Bushnell R5 6-18×50 is a hunting and long-range target riflescope built for shooters who spend serious time in low-light conditions. The illuminated DOA-LRH800 reticle is the core feature here: it carries BDC drop points calibrated out to 800 yards and wind-hold marks for 5 and 10 MPH crosswinds at the same distance, giving you a ready reference without needing to dial corrections for most field shooting situations. The reticle sits on the second focal plane, which means the subtension markings are accurate at one specific magnification — a sensible choice when the priority is a clean, uncluttered picture at lower power and a bright, well-defined aiming point in the dark.
The illumination turret is designed with an off position between each brightness step. That detail matters in practice: if you switch the scope off to save battery, you can rotate back to your last setting without having to cycle through every level from the bottom. Side focus lets you eliminate parallax without taking your head off the stock, which becomes important as you push the magnification range to its upper end. The capped target turrets use quarter-MOA clicks with 50 MOA of total travel per axis, enough to handle significant elevation holds and corrections without running out of adjustment at extended ranges.
Construction is waterproof to IPX7 and the lenses carry Bushnell’s EXO Barrier coating, a hydrophobic and oleophobic treatment that causes water, oil, and debris to shed rather than pool on the glass. The 1-inch tube keeps the scope compatible with a wide range of standard rings, and the fully multi-coated HD glass is designed to hold image quality during the low-angle light of early morning and late evening when most hunting shots actually happen. The scope ships with a CR2032 battery for the illumination system and is covered by Bushnell’s Lifetime Warranty.
