Description
The CMMG Banshee MK47 in 7.62×39mm is built for shooters who want to run the AK cartridge in a compact, AR-pattern pistol format. It suits anyone who already has a stockpile of 7.62×39mm ammunition and wants a platform that feeds from standard AK-pattern magazines rather than requiring a proprietary solution. The MK47 designation reflects CMMG’s use of a modified bolt and receiver geometry designed to accept those magazines natively, avoiding the feed-angle compromises that come with adapter-based approaches.
The 8-inch barrel keeps the overall package short while extracting meaningful velocity from a cartridge that burns most of its powder quickly. That barrel length trades some muzzle velocity relative to a carbine-length tube, but the 7.62×39mm round is not heavily dependent on long barrels to remain effective at the distances where a pistol-format firearm makes practical sense. The tradeoff is a platform that is substantially easier to maneuver in confined spaces.
CMMG’s Radial Delayed Blowback operating system is central to how the Banshee manages the 7.62×39mm’s pressure curve. Rather than a traditional direct-impingement or piston arrangement, the bolt is cammed outward against the barrel extension during the initial opening phase, which slows the bolt’s rearward travel and reduces the abruptness of felt recoil. This matters more with pistol-length builds, where a short gas system would otherwise produce a sharper, faster bolt cycle. The ambidextrous safety selector accommodates both right- and left-handed shooters without requiring any part swaps. The receiver ships optics-ready, so the sight system is entirely the shooter’s choice rather than a compromise imposed by included hardware. Finish is Armor Black.
