Description

The CMMG A2 Compensator is a mil-spec A2-style flash hider designed for AR-15 barrels threaded 1/2″-28. It is a straightforward, proven muzzle device for builders and owners who want a traditional A2 profile without deviation from the original design specification — useful when a handguard or front sight base is fitted around A2 geometry, or simply when reliability and a known quantity matter more than an exotic alternative.

The A2 design vents gas upward and to one side, which works against muzzle rise during rapid fire and reduces the flash signature at the muzzle simultaneously. This dual function is why the military settled on it as a standard for so long: a dedicated flash hider gives up the compensating vent, and a dedicated compensator gives up flash reduction, while the A2 splits the difference in a way that suits general-purpose use well. For shooters running 5.56x45mm on a standard carbine or rifle-length build, this balance is often exactly right.
