The DD5 V5 in 6.5 Creedmoor is built for precision shooting at distance — a serious tool for hunters and long-range competitors who want a semi-automatic platform capable of reaching out past 1,000 meters without the limitations of a bolt gun’s rate of fire. It is not a general-purpose carbine; the 20-inch barrel is a deliberate choice that allows the 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge to fully develop its velocity, which translates directly to retained energy and a flatter path at extended ranges.

The 1-in-8 twist rate is well suited to the heavier, high-BC projectiles that make 6.5 Creedmoor effective at distance — bullets in the 130- to 147-grain range stabilize reliably at that rate, giving handloaders and match shooters meaningful ammunition flexibility. The barrel is cold hammer forged from Daniel Defense’s proprietary steel and chrome-lined, a combination that balances the wear resistance needed for sustained firing with the dimensional consistency that long-range accuracy demands.

The gas system runs at a Rifle +1 length and is user-adjustable, which matters practically when running a suppressor — rather than cycling harder against a locked-up bore, the shooter can tune dwell time to keep bolt velocity consistent and felt impulse manageable. The bolt carrier group is superfinished and DLC-coated, reducing friction at the surfaces that see the most heat and debris, and the bolt itself carries dual ejectors and revised extractor geometry to maintain reliable extraction under varied conditions.

The receiver set is CNC-machined from 7075-T6 aluminum and joined by Daniel Defense’s 4-Bolt Connection System, which tightens the interface between upper and lower to reduce play that would otherwise affect zero repeatability. The DD5 15-inch M-LOK handguard leaves the barrel free-floating, removing stock-contact variables from the accuracy equation. The rifle ships without sights or a magazine.
