The mid-length gas system taps propellant gas farther down the barrel than a carbine-length setup, which slows the bolt’s rearward velocity and meaningfully softens the felt impulse — particularly noticeable in extended strings of fire. That extra dwell time also reduces port pressure enough that the rifle runs cleaner over a longer interval between cleanings.

The 1:7-inch twist rate stabilizes heavier projectiles reliably — 62-grain and 77-grain loads perform well at this rate — while still handling standard 55-grain ammunition without issue.
