Description

The Daniel Defense MFR 13.5 M-LOK handguard is built for AR-15 shooters who want a free-float rail that keeps weight low without compromising rigidity. Free-floating the barrel eliminates contact between the handguard and the barrel, which removes the inconsistent pressure that a standard drop-in handguard can introduce at the point of support — a meaningful advantage for anyone trying to shoot accurately from a barricade, a bipod, or a supported position where hand pressure on the handguard would otherwise shift point of impact.

Daniel Defense machines the body from 6061-T6 aluminum and finishes it with a Military Specification Type III Hard Coat Anodize, which produces a surface that resists wear and corrosion under sustained use. The barrel nut is steel, providing a harder mating surface than aluminum where torque loads are highest. Installation uses Daniel Defense’s bolt-up system, which draws the handguard body tight against the upper receiver and reduces the outer diameter compared to a conventional free-float design — useful for shooters with smaller hands or those who prefer a low-profile grip position.

M-LOK slots at seven positions give you attachment points across the handguard without adding the weight of a continuous Picatinny rail, and the uninterrupted 1913 Picatinny top rail runs the full length so optics and backup sights retain zero regardless of where they sit. Ambidextrous QD sling attachment points are built into the left and right sides, so you are not committed to a single sling configuration. Anti-rotation tabs are included to ease alignment during installation. The rail is rated for use with a pinned low-profile gas block on mid-length gas systems and is made in the United States.
