Description
The DDM4 PDW is Daniel Defense’s answer to a purpose-built close-quarters pistol that travels light without sacrificing the reliability the DDM4 platform is known for. It is aimed at shooters who need a compact centerfire AR pistol for vehicle carry, home defense, or range training where space is at a premium.
The 10.3-inch cold hammer-forged barrel is the mechanical heart of this configuration. Cold hammer forging compresses the steel as it forms the rifling, producing a denser bore surface that resists wear and maintains consistent accuracy over a high round count. At that barrel length, the .223 Rem/5.56 NATO cartridge still delivers meaningful terminal performance while keeping the overall package short enough to handle in confined spaces. The muzzle is threaded at 1/2×28, so the barrel accepts standard muzzle devices and is ready for a suppressor without additional machining.
The 9.5-inch DD4 Flat Front free-floating M-LOK rail keeps the handguard from touching the barrel, which eliminates contact pressure as a variable in shot-to-shot consistency. M-LOK attachment points allow lights, grips, and lasers to be mounted directly without adapters. The Maxim PDW brace folds and adjusts, giving the shooter a stable cheek weld in positions where a full-length buffer tube would be impractical. Controls are fully ambidextrous, so neither hand is a second-class citizen when manipulating the safety or running the lower.
This package includes a Primary Arms SLx 1x MicroPrism with the ACSS Cyclops Gen 2 reticle. A 1x prism optic differs from a red dot in that it uses etched glass rather than a projected dot, meaning the reticle remains visible even if the battery fails. The ACSS Cyclops reticle is designed for fast target acquisition at close range with the illumination on, and it is night-vision compatible. The entire package ships in Bazooka Green anodized finish with a 30-round magazine.
