Daniel Defense built this 30mm optic mount for shooters who want a fixed, non-quick-detach solution that keeps mass to a minimum without cutting corners on rigidity. At 5.5 ounces, the double-ring design stays light enough to matter on a precision or general-purpose AR build where every ounce of top-rail weight affects how the rifle handles during extended use.

The mount is precision machined from 6061-T6 aluminum — a grade chosen for its combination of strength and weight savings — then finished in Type III Hard Coat Anodizing. That anodizing process drives the surface hardness well beyond what a standard anodize achieves, which translates directly to scratch and corrosion resistance under field conditions. The finish here is the same specification Daniel Defense uses across their firearm components, not a consumer-grade afterthought.

Installation uses Daniel Defense’s patented Rock & Lock system, which seats the mount to the Picatinny rail through a controlled rocking motion rather than straight-down clamping. This approach indexes the mount consistently along the rail each time it goes on, and the Torx Plus fasteners at both the base and the rings provide reliable torque retention without requiring specialized tools beyond what most AR owners already keep on hand. The double-ring configuration spreads clamping load across two contact points on the scope tube, which reduces the risk of tube deformation compared to single-ring designs when rings are torqued to spec.
