Description
The EOTech 552.XR308 is a holographic weapon sight built for shooters running .308-caliber platforms who need a reticle that accounts for the round’s ballistic arc rather than simply marking point of aim at a single distance. Where the standard 552 carries EOTech’s familiar circle-dot reticle, the XR308 reticle replaces that with a crosshair-and-dot arrangement calibrated for 150-grain .308 projectiles at 2800 fps, with additional lead marks extending out to significant distance. That distinction matters on a machine-gun-derived platform like the M240, for which this reticle was originally developed, but it translates directly to any .308 semi-automatic rifle where the shooter needs fast, graduated holdover references without dialing between shots.
The 552 platform adds night-vision compatibility over the base 512, with dedicated brightness settings that bring the reticle down to levels that work alongside image-intensified devices. The sight runs on AA batteries, which trades some length and weight compared to CR123-powered EOTech models but returns considerably more runtime and keeps you in common, easily sourced cells in the field. The housing is hard-anodized aluminum, hermetically sealed against both moisture and pressure, which keeps the interior free of fogging without requiring user maintenance. Mounting is via a standard Picatinny clamping mount, positioning the sight at absolute co-witness with iron sights on most AR-pattern rifles. Thirty brightness levels give you enough range to dial in the reticle under any ambient condition, from direct sunlight to full darkness with night-vision equipment attached.
