The EOTech XPS2-1 is built for shooters who want a compact holographic sight without giving up rail space for a magnifier or backup iron sights. Where earlier EOTech housings extended further along the rail, the XPS2-1 uses a transverse battery arrangement — the CR123 sits perpendicular to the bore axis — which shortens the footprint to roughly 2.75 inches of occupied rail. That recovered space matters when you are running a magnifier directly behind the optic or need to clear room for a night-vision mount.
The sight uses holographic technology rather than a conventional LED projected onto a lens. The reticle is generated by a laser within the housing and reconstructed on the front glass, which means the dot appears to sit at the target distance rather than on the lens surface. The practical result is that precise eye alignment is not required — you can cant the rifle or look through the optic from an off-axis position and still pick up the aiming point quickly. The 1 MOA dot reticle on this variant offers an unobscured view of the target, which suits shooters who prefer precision aiming without additional ring or chevron elements around the dot.
The housing is sealed against water immersion and fog, with a laminate rear window designed to retain function even if the glass takes damage. Brightness runs across 20 settings, and the sight will power down automatically after eight hours of continuous use to conserve battery life — a programmable option also allows a four-hour shutdown. There is no night-vision compatibility on this model; the XPS3 series covers that application. For daytime use on a carbine or rifle where a low-profile, space-efficient holographic sight is the priority, the XPS2-1 is a focused, purpose-built tool.
