The EOTech XPS2 in Flat Dark Earth is built for shooters who need a fast, reliable holographic sight without the bulk that comes with dual-battery housings. Unlike EOTech’s larger EXPS series, the XPS2 uses a single CR123A lithium cell, which frees up meaningful rail space behind the optic for a magnifier or a folding rear iron sight — a practical consideration on carbines where rail length is always at a premium.

Holographic sighting works differently from a reflex red dot. Rather than projecting a simple LED reflection onto a lens, the system uses a laser to illuminate a reticle recorded on a holographic film inside the sight window. The result is that the reticle appears to exist on the target plane, not on the glass, which makes target focus more natural and holds up well when your cheek weld shifts under stress. Parallax remains negligible at the distances where a 1x optic is typically used.

The 68 MOA ring surrounding the 1 MOA center dot gives you two distinct ways to aim. At close range, framing a target inside the ring is faster than centering a dot, because the large circle demands less visual precision. The 1 MOA dot at center is precise enough for longer shots where you need to place the hit more carefully. The tan anodized housing is suited to desert and arid environments and holds up as a working finish rather than a cosmetic one. Twenty brightness steps give you genuine control across bright daylight, overcast, and transitional lighting without hunting for the right setting.
