Description

The EOTech 558 is built for shooters who need a holographic weapon sight that works equally well in daylight and under night vision — military, law enforcement, and serious civilians running Gen I through Gen III NV devices. Unlike a standard red dot that projects an LED onto a lens, EOTech’s holographic system renders the reticle inside a holographic film, which means the reticle stays on the target plane rather than floating in front of it. That distinction matters in real use: parallax error is minimized, and you do not have to center your eye behind the optic to maintain accuracy.

The 68 MOA speed ring exists to pull the eye to the target fast in close-quarters situations, while the 1 MOA center dot gives you the precision reference you need when distance demands it. The ring also functions as a rough holdover reference and, on a shotgun, approximates spread patterns depending on choke and load. The reticle runs at 20 brightness levels for daylight and 10 additional levels tuned specifically for night vision use, so the dot does not wash out your NV image.

The mount is an adjustable, locking quick-detach lever design that seats on standard Picatinny or Weaver rails and comes off without tools — useful when swapping between weapon systems or adding a magnifier. Brightness controls sit on the left side of the housing rather than the rear, which keeps them accessible when a flip-to-side magnifier is mounted behind the optic. Power comes from two standard AA batteries, with lithium cells rated for approximately 2,500 continuous hours at the nominal brightness setting.
