Where a carbine-length system ports gas closer to the chamber, the mid-length draws from a point farther down the barrel, which extends the dwell time curve in a way that generally softens the impulse felt at the shooter’s shoulder and reduces the velocity at which the bolt carrier unlocks. That makes it a sensible choice for barrels in the 14.5- to 18-inch range, where a carbine tube would over-gas the system and a rifle-length tube would leave it short.

KAK machines this tube from stainless steel, which resists the corrosion that hot propellant gases and bore-cleaning solvents can cause inside a carbon steel tube over time. The geometry follows standard AR specifications, so it seats correctly in a standard gas block and indexes to the upper receiver without modification. Note that no roll pin is included — you will need a standard AR gas tube roll pin to secure it to the gas block during installation.
