Description

Dimpling a barrel before installing a set-screw gas block is one of those steps that separates a professional build from one that will eventually walk out of zero. The KAK Industry Multi Position Dimple Drill Jig gives the builder a repeatable, indexed way to place those recesses exactly where the gas block’s set screws will land — without guesswork, without freehand scribing, and without the risk of a drill bit skating across a hardened barrel surface at the wrong angle.

The jig is sized for .750-inch diameter barrels, the most common dimension on mid-weight and government-profile AR barrels. Multiple hole positions around the body let you align the drill guide to match the set-screw pattern of whichever gas block you are installing, so you are not locked into a single layout. Once the jig is clamped and the set screws are snugged, the guide keeps the drill bit perpendicular and positioned precisely opposite the gas port — placement that matters because a dimple drilled off-axis or too deep can compromise the barrel’s integrity or prevent the gas block from seating flush.

KAK machines the jig from 4140 through-hardened steel, which is the same alloy family used in quality barrel blanks, and applies a phosphate finish for corrosion resistance. That material choice means the guide hole itself holds its geometry through repeated use rather than wearing oversized after a handful of builds. A 3/16 x 90-degree spot drill is included. Note that particularly hard barrel treatments — such as melonite or QPQ finishes — may require a carbide or titanium-coated bit beyond what is supplied.
