Description

The Lantac M-SPEC line exists for a straightforward reason: not every build calls for a fully enhanced, top-shelf bolt carrier group, but quality and reliability still matter regardless of budget. This BCG is aimed at shooters who want components that meet and modestly exceed military specification without paying a premium for features they don’t need.

The carrier is machined from 8620 steel, then case hardened, hard turned, and ground so that internal dimensions hold tight to mil-spec tolerances. That approach matters because a carrier that fits correctly within the upper receiver cycles predictably and wears evenly over time. Rather than the phosphate finish common on standard mil-spec parts, Lantac applies a Titanium Nitride coating — TiN — which offers meaningfully better corrosion resistance and a harder surface that sheds fouling more readily than parkerized steel, which makes cleaning less of an exercise in patience during high-volume range sessions.

The bolt is manufactured from either Carpenter 158 or 9310 steel — both are accepted mil-spec materials — and is shot peened using S110 shot with intensity verified by an Almen A-2 strip gauge. Shot peening introduces compressive stress into the surface layer, which resists the fatigue cracking that repeated firing cycles place on the bolt lugs. The bolt is also magnetic particle inspected, which means internal flaws that aren’t visible to the eye are screened out before the part ships.

One detail worth noting is the included Lantac CP-R360 cam pin. Machined from 17-4PH stainless steel and hardened to H900 condition, its domed head reduces the contact area between the cam pin and the upper receiver’s interior, which lowers friction and wear at a point in the action that often goes overlooked.
