Description
The LWRC IC MKII in Tungsten Grey Cerakote is built for the shooter who wants a short-barreled, piston-driven carbine that holds up under sustained use without constant cleaning. Where a direct-impingement rifle routes combustion gases back into the bolt carrier group, LWRC’s short-stroke gas piston system vents those gases forward, keeping the action cooler and significantly reducing carbon buildup at the bolt face. The result is a rifle that runs longer between cleanings and handles suppressed fire or low-quality ammunition with less sensitivity.
The barrel is cold hammer forged and spiral-fluted — the forging process aligns the steel’s grain structure for consistent bore dimensions, while the fluting removes material to reduce weight without thinning the barrel wall itself. A 1-in-7 twist rate stabilizes heavier projectiles effectively, making this carbine well-suited to 62-grain and heavier .223/5.56 loads rather than light 55-grain pills. The 14.7-inch barrel is pinned and welded at the muzzle, which affects what a future owner can and cannot do with muzzle devices.
The Monoforge upper receiver is machined as a single piece, eliminating the seam between the upper and the rail that can introduce flex in conventionally assembled receivers. The lower is fully ambidextrous — bolt catch, bolt release, magazine release, safety selector, and charging handle are all operable from either side without modification. LWRC’s Compact Adjustable Stock ships standard, and LWRC Skirmish back-up iron sights are included, so the rifle is ready to run without additional purchases. A single 30-round Magpul PMAG is included.
