Description
Finding a magazine that reliably feeds the wide range of .458 SOCOM loads on the market is genuinely difficult — the cartridge’s large diameter and varied bullet profiles demand precise feed geometry that most standard AR magazines cannot deliver. CMMG addressed this by starting with the Lancer L5 Advanced Warfighter Magazine and modifying it specifically for .458 SOCOM, adjusting how the feed lips present the round without cutting into or weakening the steel itself. The result is a magazine that handles the caliber’s demands without compromising the structural integrity of the most critical wear point.
The body is impact-resistant polymer, which keeps weight low and provides the aggressive texturing CMMG built in for a positive grip under wet or gloved hands. The feed lips and the top of the magazine catch are hardened steel, so the surfaces that take the most abuse from repeated loading and insertion remain dimensionally stable over time. Inside, a non-tilt follower and constant-curve geometry work together to keep cartridges properly oriented throughout the full stack, and a stainless steel spring maintains consistent feed pressure as the magazine empties. The base plate slides off for straightforward disassembly and cleaning. Laser engraving identifies the caliber clearly so there is no confusion at the range. At 10 rounds, this is purpose-built for the MkW-15 platform and holds the .458 SOCOM rounds it was modified to feed — not an afterthought conversion.
