Description

The AFG-2 is Magpul’s refined take on the angled fore grip concept, built for shooters who want the ergonomic benefits of the original AFG in a package that takes up less real estate on the handguard. Where a vertical fore grip puts the wrist into a less natural position under sustained use, the angled geometry of the AFG-2 places the support hand high along the bore axis, which keeps the muzzle from dipping during recoil and helps bring the sights back on target without fighting the rifle back into alignment. That hand position also distributes the work across more of the forearm, reducing fatigue over longer range sessions.

The slimmer, shorter profile compared to the original AFG is the practical point of difference here. Tighter handguards that couldn’t accommodate the original now have room for the AFG-2, and there’s still enough rail space for a light, pressure switch, or rail covers alongside it. Magpul recommends a minimum of three inches of free rail, which fits comfortably on most modern carbine-length handguards. It mounts directly to MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny and NATO STANAG 4694 rails with the included hardware — no additional parts needed.

The three-piece polymer construction keeps weight low, and the interchangeable finger shelf lets the shooter choose between a flat A1-style surface or an A2-style finger nub depending on personal preference and grip technique. Both inserts ship in the box. Finished in Flat Dark Earth (FDE) under part number MAG414-FDE, it coordinates cleanly with other Magpul FDE components. Made in the USA.
