Description

The Magpul AFG is designed for shooters who want more control over a Picatinny-railed rifle or carbine without the compromises that come with a conventional vertical fore grip. Where a vertical grip locks the wrist into an awkward position that fights the natural push-pull dynamics of recoil management, the AFG’s angled surface lets the support hand sit in a more neutral posture — closer to how you’d hold the handguard naturally, but with a defined reference point and textured surface to index against.

The geometry places the support hand higher on the bore centerline than a vertical grip allows. That matters because it shortens the lever arm between your hand and the axis of recoil, which means the muzzle has less mechanical advantage to rise between shots. The result is faster return to target on follow-up shots, not because of any single dramatic change, but because a more neutral wrist angle and a better-positioned hand work together across the string of fire.

Construction is Magpul’s glass-filled polymer, which keeps weight down without sacrificing the rigidity needed at a structural attachment point. The three-piece design includes two interchangeable finger shelf inserts — one smooth and flat in an A1-style profile, one with a finger nub in an A2-style profile — so you can configure the grip surface to suit your hand or shooting style. It mounts to MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny and NATO STANAG 4694 rails, and Magpul recommends a minimum of four inches of rail. All mounting hardware is included. Made in the USA.
