Description
The Magpul ASAP — Ambidextrous Sling Attachment Point — is a direct replacement for the standard AR-15/M4 receiver end plate, purpose-built for shooters who need to transition the rifle between shoulders quickly and without fighting the sling. The core problem it solves is rotational restriction: conventional sling mounts lock attachment to a single plane, which forces awkward sling management the moment you move the rifle to your support side. The ASAP’s welded-link steel ring provides more than 180 degrees of continuous rotation, so the sling follows the rifle rather than binding against it during a shoulder transition.
Construction is precision cast steel finished with a QPQ salt bath nitride treatment, which produces a hard, corrosion-resistant surface throughout the material rather than just on top of it. That matters on a part that sees constant contact with clothing, plate carriers, and hardware. The interlocking ring geometry is intentionally low-profile to reduce the catch points that cause snagging during movement. The assembly has been load-tested to 300 lbs, giving a meaningful margin above anything a sling will put on it in field use.
Compatibility covers both Mil-Spec and commercial-specification carbine receiver extensions, so it fits the vast majority of AR-platform rifles without additional hardware. The attachment interface accepts snap-hook style hardware — HK hooks, MASH hooks, and the Magpul Paraclip among them — which works directly with the Magpul MS3 and similarly configured single-point slings. Note that it is not compatible with fixed rifle stocks including A1/A2 patterns, or with stocks like the Magpul PRS, UBR GEN2, or MOE Rifle variants that use similar mounting arrangements. Installation follows standard end plate replacement procedure; staking is not required when the castle nut is properly torqued. Made in the USA.
