Description

The Magpul CTR Carbine Stock has been a standard-setter for AR-15 and M4-pattern carbines for good reason. It fits directly onto Mil-Spec diameter receiver extension tubes from manufacturers such as Colt, Armalite, Smith & Wesson, and LMT, making it a straightforward drop-in swap with no gunsmithing required.

The A-frame profile is the defining design choice here. Rather than leaving the release latch exposed, the stock’s geometry wraps around and shields it, which prevents accidental depression during handling or when gear snags across it. That same profile keeps the silhouette slim and avoids the catch points that squared-off stocks tend to create.

Beyond the latch itself, Magpul added a supplemental friction lock — a separate mechanism from the primary lock spring — that bears against the receiver extension and takes the play out of the stock without requiring you to crank it down. The primary lock spring is chrome-silicon, which resists the set and fatigue that softer springs develop over time. Between the two systems, the stock holds its selected position without the lateral movement that translates directly into inconsistent cheekweld and wandering point of impact.

Sling mounting is handled through a push-button QD socket on both sides of the toe, two footman’s loops at the rear underside, and a lanyard hole at the stock toe. The removable rubber butt-pad adds grip against body armor or plate carriers where smooth polymer tends to walk.
