Description
The Magpul Hunter Lite stock for the Savage AXIS Short Action is built for hunters who cover ground on foot and need a rifle that doesn’t punish them for the mileage. Where the original Hunter line prioritized rigidity and width, this design sheds roughly 20% of that weight and narrows the forend by nearly 25%, making a meaningful difference by the end of a long day in the field without sacrificing the structural integrity that matters at the shot.
The core of the stock is an extruded aluminum V-bedding block reinforced with steel action screw pillars. That combination resists the compression and deformation that polymer-only bedding surfaces develop over time, keeping the action’s relationship to the stock consistent across seasons and round counts. The forend accepts barrel profiles up to Medium Palma, so the stock accommodates a range of AXIS configurations without modification.
Shooters who run both right- and left-handed can swap the inlet insert to reconfigure the stock accordingly — a practical detail given how often hunting rifles move between family members or guides. Length of pull adjusts from 13 to 15 inches using the included half-inch buttstock spacers, and snap-on cheek risers let you dial in comb height to suit a scope without tools. M-LOK slots on the forend let you mount a bipod or other accessories where the terrain calls for it, while integral sling swivel studs on both the buttstock and forend cover more traditional carry setups.
The enlarged trigger guard is sized to work with gloves, and the ambidextrous magazine release paddle is accessible from either side. Stamped steel over-insertion tabs in the magazine well keep AICS-compatible magazines presenting consistently under field handling. Made in the USA.
