Description
The Magpul MBUS Pro Hooded Front Sight is built for shooters who want a steel backup iron sight that holds up to hard use and mounts cleanly on any M1913 Picatinny rail. Unlike polymer flip-up sights, the all-steel construction and QPQ nitride surface treatment give this sight genuine resistance to wear, impact, and corrosion — the kind of durability that matters when a backup sight needs to function after the primary optic takes a hit.
The hooded arm design serves two purposes: it speeds up front sight acquisition by framing the post visually, and it reduces the chance of the sight snagging on gear or a barricade during deployment. When paired with the MBUS Pro rear sight, the combination functions as a diopter system — aperture within aperture — which produces a cleaner, more focused sight picture than a standard notch-and-post arrangement.
The rotating front post offers two widths. The narrower 0.040-inch post is suited to precision work at distance and is also compatible with IR aiming lasers and lights. The wider 0.060-inch post is the standard option for general use and faster target acquisition at closer ranges. Switching between them requires no tools, and elevation adjustment is likewise tool-free. Positive detents retain the sight firmly in both the deployed and stowed positions — deployed sits at standard AR sight height, while folded it drops to a 0.432-inch profile, staying out of the way of optics when not needed.
