Description

The Sig Sauer X-Ray3 Day/Night Pistol Sight Set is built for shooters who refuse to carry two different sight setups for day and night work. The #8 front paired with a #8 rear in a square notch is a matched-height configuration, meaning the front post sits flush at the same relative height as the rear — a consistent reference point that trains the same way every time, regardless of lighting.

The front sight uses a tritium vial surrounded by an oversized fluorescent polymer ring. In daylight, that polymer gives you a bright, high-contrast aiming point without relying on tritium at all. In low light, the tritium takes over and keeps the dot glowing without batteries or activation. The rear sight is blacked out intentionally: eliminating the visual competition from the rear dots forces your eye to find the bright front post first, which is the correct focus for accurate pistol shooting under stress. That front-dominant design is the functional logic behind the three-dot layout here — the rear dots exist as references, not focal points.

The steel housing around each tritium vial matters because tritium capsules are glass. Recoil, holster wear, and cleaning solvents are real hazards to an unprotected vial. The steel construction addresses all three. Tritium has a half-life of roughly 12 years, so brightness will gradually diminish over time — that’s a property of the isotope, not a manufacturing variable, and it applies to every tritium sight on the market.

Compatibility covers the P226, P229, P220, P225, P227, P238, P938, and P320. Installation requires disassembly beyond field-strip level and is recommended for a qualified armorer.
