The Magpul MIAD GEN 1.1 Grip Kit TYPE 1 is built for AR-15 and M4 shooters who want a grip that actually fits their hand rather than accepting whatever came standard on their lower. The core idea is simple: grip geometry affects trigger finger placement, wrist angle, and how naturally the firearm shoulders, so getting it right matters more than most stock components suggest.

The kit ships with three backstraps in small, medium, and large, including both beavertail and flat options, so you can control how much palm swell you carry and how the web of your hand contacts the grip. Two frontstraps let you choose between a finger-ridge profile and a smooth surface—a decision that affects purchase consistency more than it might seem, particularly for shooters running gloves or transitioning between positions under stress. The 25-degree grip angle matches the geometry AR-platform shooters are already adapted to, which matters when you’re also running optics or iron sights optimized for that stance.

The grip body itself uses an aggressive texture that maintains positive contact in wet or cold conditions without being punishing on bare hands during extended range work. Internally, the MIAD ships with a lube bottle core that fits the hollow grip cavity. That cavity also accepts optional Magpul Storage Cores sold separately, which can house AA, AAA, or CR123A batteries, or a spare bolt and firing pin for AR-15 configurations—practical insurance for any rifle being run hard away from a bench.
