Description

The Magpul MIAD GEN 1.1 is a modular pistol grip designed for shooters who want a tailored fit on AR-15 and AR-10 platforms rather than settling for a one-size grip that works adequately for everyone and ideally for no one. The core idea is straightforward: front and rear straps are interchangeable, so hand size and shooting style can both be accommodated without replacing the grip entirely. A shooter with larger hands who runs the rifle with a thumbs-forward grip can configure the MIAD differently from someone who prefers a more traditional hold, and either can change their mind later without buying a new grip.

The Gen 1.1 revision updated the strap retention system so the straps stay locked under sustained use, which was a reasonable critique of earlier generations. The grip core itself includes a small lubrication bottle — a practical detail that keeps a maintenance staple on the rifle rather than in a range bag that may or may not be present when it matters. The aggressive surface texture is consistent across the grip body and provides purchase even with wet or gloved hands, where smoother grips tend to lose their advantage.

The TYPE 1 variant covered here fits the majority of AR-15 receivers chambered in 5.56×45, as well as most 7.62×51 AR platforms — the TYPE 2 (MAG521) addresses a narrower set of 7.62×51 receivers with a different lower geometry. All mounting hardware is included. The grip is manufactured in the USA by Magpul Industries and is offered here in Olive Drab Green, consistent with Magpul’s standard ODG finish across their product line.
