Description

The Magpul MIAD Gen 1.1 Type 2 is a drop-in pistol grip replacement built specifically for AR-10-pattern rifles chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO. Where a standard fixed grip forces every shooter into the same geometry, the MIAD’s interchangeable front and rear strap system lets you dial in the fit to your actual hand size — the kit ships with three backstraps (small, medium, and large) and two frontstraps in A1 and A2 profiles, so the angle and palm swell you run on the range can be different from what a smaller-handed shooter uses on the same rifle.

The aggressive texture across the grip panels and along the backstrap maintains purchase under wet or cold conditions without being abrasive in normal carry. Inside, the grip core is hollow and sized to accept a reusable half-ounce lubrication bottle, which is included. If you’d rather use that space for battery or other small-item storage, Magpul’s separately sold Storage Cores drop straight in.

The Type 2 designation matters for fitment. The taller backstrap geometry in this kit is optimized for receivers like the Armalite AR-10A/B, KAC SR25, LaRue OBR, LMT .308 MWS, and Smith & Wesson M&P10. Owners of platforms such as the Aero Precision M5, CMMG Mk3, or SIG716 should instead look at the Type 1 kit. Installation is handled by the included dual-drive mounting screw, which accepts both flat and Phillips drivers — useful when a dedicated screwdriver isn’t at hand. The grip is black polymer construction throughout.
