Description
The Magpul MS3 Gen 2 is a convertible sling designed for shooters who need to move between single-point and two-point carry without stopping to swap hardware. The core appeal is speed: the transition between configurations happens with one hand, which keeps the weapon controlled and the shooter’s attention where it belongs. A positive-locking quick-release mechanism means the adjustment won’t creep under movement, but releases cleanly when you need it to.
The Gen 2 revision addressed a real-world limitation of the original design. The low-profile adjustment slider reduces the bulk that the earlier version added at the adjustment point, and Magpul extended the overall webbing length so the sling fits a wider range of body types and works correctly over plate carriers and heavier armor packages without pulling short.
Hardware is hardened steel and heavy-duty polymer throughout. The symmetrical Paraclip shackles with cross-bolt lock bars are a deliberate choice: they let the sling rotate and reposition naturally as you move, reducing the twisting that can bind up a fixed-attachment design. The 1.25-inch nylon webbing is custom-spec material rather than off-the-shelf webbing, which affects how the slider moves and how the sling lies against the body under load.
The Ranger Green finish includes a Near Infrared treatment, which matters for anyone operating in environments where IR illumination is in use. Attachment requires a snap-hook style sling loop with an inner diameter of at least 3/8 inch; loops at 9/16 inch or larger give the Paraclip full range of motion. This is a purpose-built system with no padding, keeping weight and bulk to a minimum for shooters who prioritize maneuverability over comfort on long static carries.
