Description

The Magpul RLS — Rifleman Loop Sling — is built around a concept that borrows from both the Rhodesian carry sling and the classic 1907 match-style loop: it works as a standard two-point carry strap at rest, but converts quickly into a shooting aid that locks the support arm against the rifle and drives the stock firmly into the shoulder. That combination of roles in a single piece of kit is the core reason to choose it over a basic carry strap.

The webbing itself is a tubular nylon mesh construction developed by Magpul specifically for this application. Tubular construction means there are no hard flat edges that can fold and dig into the arm during extended wear or when the loop is cinched for a supported position. The material is also treated to reduce infrared signature, which matters in low-light and low-visibility environments where thermal imaging is a factor.

Hardware throughout is injection-molded polymer, which keeps weight down and eliminates the loose tail ends that metal buckle-and-slider systems leave hanging. The forward loop is adjustable, and the sling accepts Magpul’s own 1¼-inch sling accessories — mounts, paraclips, QD swivels — as well as most third-party hardware built to that same width standard. That compatibility means you can configure attachment points to match whatever swivel studs or slots your rifle already carries without hunting for proprietary hardware. Total weight comes in at 4.4 oz, making it a straightforward addition that adds function without meaningfully changing the balance of the rifle.
