Description
The Magpul PMAG 30 AK/AKM MOE is a polymer magazine built for Kalashnikov-pattern rifles chambered in 7.62x39mm, covering platforms including the AK-47, AKM, AKS, and SIG556R. It is a straightforward working magazine aimed at shooters who want reliable feeding without spending on a premium steel option.
The constant-curve internal geometry follows the natural taper of the 7.62x39mm cartridge. That match between the magazine body and the cartridge’s arc matters because misalignment at the feed lips is one of the more common causes of nose-dive malfunctions in detachable box magazines. By conforming the internal shape to the round’s actual path, the design keeps cartridges presenting consistently to the chamber.
The follower is both anti-tilt and self-lubricating. Anti-tilt geometry prevents the follower from canting as the spring compresses under load, which keeps upward pressure on the stack even when the magazine is nearly full and spring tension is at its highest. The self-lubricating material reduces friction against the magazine body without requiring any maintenance or added lubrication.
The stainless steel spring resists corrosion during long-term storage or wet-weather use. The floorplate is removable for cleaning and inspection, and its flared profile gives a positive grip surface during reloads. Ribbed side panels and aggressive front and rear texturing help with purchase during one-handed magazine changes. Dot-matrix panels on the floorplate allow marking with a paint pen to differentiate loads or identify individual magazines in rotation.
At roughly half the weight of a comparable steel magazine, the polymer construction reduces overall carry weight when running multiple magazines. This is a no-frills option suited to range training, general use, and high-volume shooting where cost per magazine matters.
