Description

The PMAG 30 AR/M4 GEN M3 in MCT is Magpul’s current-generation polymer magazine for AR-15 and M4-pattern rifles chambered in .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO. Where earlier PMAG generations carried over the USGI spring geometry unchanged, the GEN M3 was redesigned from the ground up to address a wider range of host platforms. The internal geometry has been modified to feed reliably in rifles that earlier PMAGs occasionally struggled with, including the HK416, MR556A1, and FN SCAR MK 16 — platforms with tighter tolerances around the magazine well that can be unforgiving of minor dimensional deviations.

The four-way anti-tilt follower keeps the bolt carrier moving rearward cleanly on the last round and holds the bolt open reliably, which matters in a training context where a fumbled bolt-catch is a lost rep. The constant-curve internal geometry maintains consistent cartridge presentation through the full 30-round capacity, so feeding geometry at round one and round thirty are effectively the same. The stainless steel spring is USGI-spec for commonality with existing armorer tooling.

An over-travel stop on the spine prevents the magazine from seating too deeply in compatible magwells, which can cause feeding issues on some receivers. The bolt catch notch has been opened up compared to earlier generations to give the bolt catch more clearance and reduce the chance of a short bolt-hold-open. The flared floorplate is removable without tools for cleaning or spring replacement. A paint-pen dot matrix on the body panel lets you mark individual magazines for accountability in a shared-gun environment.
