Description
Magpul’s PMAG Ranger Plate for AK/AKM magazines is a direct replacement floorplate designed for shooters who run Kalashnikov-pattern PMAGs in high-tempo environments where positive magazine control matters. The original floorplates on AK PMAGs are serviceable for range use, but they offer little to grip when you’re stripping a spent magazine under stress or in low light. This plate changes that equation.
The design centers on an overmolded rubber loop integrated into a reinforced polymer base — the same concept Magpul pioneered with their USGI Ranger plates for AR magazines. That loop gives your support hand something to hook, pull, or catch during a reload, and it also cushions the magazine’s impact if it drops free and hits a hard surface. Protecting the base of a loaded PMAG from drop damage is a practical concern, not a marketing one, and the rubber overmold addresses it without adding meaningful bulk.
Installation is a swap-out replacement; no tools or permanent modification required. The plates are compatible with Kalashnikov AK/AKM PMAGs chambered in 7.62x39mm and will not fit AR-pattern or metal magazines. Sold in a three-pack, so you can equip your full loadout at once rather than sourcing plates one at a time. Black finish matches standard Magpul PMAG coloring. For anyone who runs AK PMAGs seriously, this is a small upgrade with a disproportionate return on reliability and handling.
