Description
The Mossberg Patriot in 6.5 Creedmoor is a working bolt-action hunting rifle built for shooters who want a no-compromise cartridge in a package that won’t punish the wallet or the shoulder. The 6.5 Creedmoor’s combination of a high ballistic coefficient and moderate case capacity makes it well-suited to both open-country deer hunting and longer-range target work, and Mossberg built this configuration around that versatility.
The 22-inch barrel strikes a practical balance: enough length to let the 6.5 Creedmoor develop velocity close to its potential without becoming unwieldy in the field. The 1-in-8 twist rate is fast enough to stabilize heavier, high-BC projectiles in the 140-grain range that most 6.5 Creedmoor shooters prefer for long-range accuracy, while still handling lighter loads used for varmints or practice. That matters when choosing ammunition, because a slower twist rifle in this caliber can destabilize the long, heavy bullets where the cartridge performs best.
The barrel carries a Cerakote Stainless finish, which puts a corrosion-resistant ceramic coating over stainless steel — useful for hunters who work in wet or humid conditions where a traditional blued finish would require more diligent maintenance. The fluted barrel profile reduces weight without a meaningful reduction in rigidity, and the recessed match crown protects the muzzle face from dings that could otherwise affect exit consistency. Mossberg’s LBA (Lightning Bolt Action) trigger is user-adjustable, allowing the shooter to tune pull weight without sending the rifle out for a trigger job. The crossbolt safety is straightforward and consistent with traditional hunting rifle ergonomics. The rifle ships with one five-round box magazine and is optics-ready, so a scope and rings are required separately.
