Description
The Elevation MTR is Proof Research’s answer to a recurring problem in precision bolt-action design: how do you build a rifle that performs at the level of a dedicated competition chassis gun without the weight penalty that comes with steel and aluminum at every junction. The result is a platform aimed at hunters and long-range shooters who move through terrain on foot and then need genuine accuracy when they stop.
The action comes from Zermatt Arms’ Origin platform, a short-action receiver with tight bolt-to-receiver fit that underpins a growing number of purpose-built precision rifles. Paired with a carbon fiber-wrapped match-grade barrel, the assembly keeps overall weight down while maintaining the stiffness that matters for consistent harmonics shot to shot. Carbon wrapping is not purely a weight-saving measure — it also dissipates heat more evenly than a comparable steel profile, which helps maintain point of impact during extended shooting sessions.
The 1-in-7.5 twist rate is on the faster end for 6.5 PRC, which is suited to stabilizing heavier, high-BC projectiles in the 140–147 grain range that make this cartridge effective at distance. Shooters handloading or selecting match ammunition should prioritize bullets at that weight or above to take full advantage of the barrel’s spin rate. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24, leaving the choice of muzzle device to the shooter.
Magazine feeding runs through a 3-round MDT Steel AICS-pattern detachable box, a widely adopted format that gives the shooter access to a broad range of aftermarket magazine options. The stock is finished in Midnight Camo and is built from carbon fiber, contributing to the rifle’s field-ready weight profile. Proof Research backs the package with a sub-MOA accuracy guarantee.
